Monkey World, Ape Rescue Centre, is located at Longthorns, Wareham, between Wool and Bere Regis. The centre is home to many different species of primates and is set in 65 acres of woodland, with a cafe, gift shop, toilet facilities, woodland walks and picnic areas. Monkey World has featured on many television programmes such as ITV's 'Nature Watch', Granada and the Discovery Channel's 'Monkey Business' and the BBC's 'Animal Hospital'. Monkey World is home to the largest group of chimpanzees outside of Africa and was set-up by Jim and Alison Cronin to provide abused Spanish beach chimpanzees with a stable and permanent home. Open everyday except Christmas day between 10am and 5pm (10am-6pm during July and August).
