The Bournemouth Oceanarium
The Bournemouth Oceanarium is an interactive indoor attraction located on the west beach promenade of the Bournemouth seafront (to the right hand side of the pier). The Oceanarium brings its visitors face to face with many species of marine life, from around the world, with underwater tunnels and exhibits, feeding demonstrations, plasma screen documentaries and talks.
The Bournemouth Oceanarium is home to many marine creatures, such as exotic fish, sharks, turtles, piranhas and stingrays. Also available is the Oceanarium shop and the cafe which overlooks the beautiful beach and pier. Open 7 days a week all year round, except Christmas day, from 10am.
The Dorset Heavy Horse Centre and Farm Park is an educational and fun attraction located on the Edmondsham Road, near Verwood. From the B3081 in Verwood follow the signs to the Heavy Horse Centre. The attraction is home to various breeds of Horses, ponies, donkeys and other animals, such as goats, pigs and rabbits. There's plenty to keep visitors amused, like tractor, wagon, cart and pony rides, demonstrations, daily shows, play areas and visitors are encouraged to help feed and groom the animals. Also available on site is a cafe, picnic area, gift shop and a display of old wagons, carts, vintage farm vehicles and gypsy caravans. A unique experience, mixing the past with the present, open between Easter and October 10am till 5pm.
Braemore House is an Elizabethan Manor House located off the A338 just north of Fordingbridge. This amazing house was completed in 1583 and originally owned by the Dodington family. Sir Edward Hulse purchased the house in the 18th century and it is still owned and lived in by the Hulse family today. The museum visitors are able to see what village life would have been like many years ago, by viewing replica buildings, such as the village shop and the farm workers cottage. The museum is also home to a fine collection of vintage steam powered farm vehicles and machinery. Also within the grounds is a beautiful Saxon Church. The house and museum are open Tuesdays to Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and all bank holidays, May till September (Tuesday and Sunday during April). House 2pm-5.30pm, Museum 1pm-5.30pm.
