Avon Beach
Braxton Gardens and tearooms are located at Braxton Courtyard (a small group of red brick, Victorian farm buildings and a walled garden), just a couple of miles away from King Henry VIII's Hurst Castle. The beautiful gardens are home to the largest David Austin Rose Garden in the New Forest, herbs, perennials, gift shop and tearooms. Free admission and parking. Take the A337 from Lymington heading towards Christchurch, then take the B3058 following the brown road signs to Braxton Gardens.
Avon Beach is a beautiful, privately owned beach located in Mudeford, Christchurch. The sand and shingle beach has lovely views of the Needles lighthouse on the Isle of Wight and a promenade leading to Mudeford Quay. The beach is very popular with locals and tourists especially during the peak season. Chargeable car parking, cafe and toilets are available. Take the A35 out of Christchurch heading towards Lyndhurst, at the Somerford roundabout take the A337 towards Highcliffe. At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit (The Runway and Bure Lane) and follow the road until you come to a sharp right-hand bend. Turn left at this bend and the small road takes you directly to the beach car park.  
Where better to start your New Forest adventure than at the New Forest Visitor Centre and Museum, Lyndhurst. Here you can learn about the history and heritage of the New Forest, find out about all aspects of forest life, learn about the Commoners' Rights and much more. The centre has a gift shop with a great selection of souvenirs and gifts. Essential maps, guides and books are also available to assist in exploring the forest and its many attractions (leaflets and brochures can be obtained at the visitor centre, most of which are free).
