Where better to start your New Forest adventure than at the New Forest Visitor Centre and Museum, located in the main car park at Lyndhurst, the ancient capital of the forest. Here you can learn about the history and heritage of the New Forest, find out about all aspects of forest life, learn about the Commoners' Rights and much much more. The centre has a gift shop with a great selection of holiday souvenirs and gifts. Essential maps, guides and books are also available to assist in exploring the forest and its many attractions (leaflets and brochures can be obtained at the visitor centre, most of which are free). The site also boasts a reference library with a vast collection of books, essential for anyone researching the New Forest.
