The Seafront at Bournemouth is extremely popular, especially during the summer months when thousands of visitors flock to its safe, family-friendly, award-winning beaches and the surrounding attractions, every day. This major seaside resort has miles of sandy beaches, excellent shopping, great entertainment and a diverse range of eateries and accommodation. There are so many tourist attractions to see in Bournemouth, everything from the unique
Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum to the excitement and thrill of organised watersports or a flight on the
'Bournemouth Eye' (a helium filled balloon with an enclosed basket/gondela capable of carrying upto 30 people).
The Pavilion and Pier theatres are always very popular with visitors to Bournemouth and they host a variety of theatrical productions throughout the year. Pier Approach is always a hive of activity, particularly at the 'Friday Night Fireworks' when crowds gather here and along the seafront to watch the free display. The Pier Approach area is home to a small funfair, amusement arcades, the
Oceanarium, bars, restaurants and tickets for cruises that leave from the pier can be purchased from booths here. In front of Pier Approach are the picturesque Lower Gardens, home to the 'Eye' and a number of events including the candle illuminations which attracts thousands of spectators on summer evenings.
The land train is a great way to travel along the seafront and it stops at various places such as Boscombe Pier, Alum Chine and Bournemouth Pier. There are many car parks within Bournemouth and along the seafront at Boscombe, although the seafront car park does fill up pretty early in the day.
